British Wireless for the Blind Fund is proud to announce its totally new and unique Internet Radio: the Sonata.

Specially designed with blind and visually impaired people in mind, the Sonata Internet Audio Player enables the user to access internet-based audio without the need for a computer.

Through the Sonata, the user can access any radio station available on the Internet (roughly 9,000), as well as podcasts, local talking newspapers, National Talking Newspapers and Magazines, audio catalogues, specialist news programmes, and a selection of books and novels.  In fact it is fair to say that if there is audio content on the Web which is freely accessible, then the Sonata should be able to bring that audio to the user.

The Sonata is incredibly easy to use, there are only five buttons and a dial and all instructions and options are announced audibly using a combination of human and synthetic voice in a clear and concise manner.

One of the mottos of British Wireless for the Blind Fund is 'Keeping blind people in touch with the world', and with the launch of the Sonata this is just what we will be doing. The Internet is now part of everyday life and the Sonata gives new freedom to blind and partially sighted people using the latest technology, but without any of the complications usually associated with this kind of service.
The Sonata is available on free permanent  loan to those who qualify and is available to purchase otherwise.

For further information or for a no-obligation demonstration, please call Sophie Jones, Regional Development Manager on 07540 724063 or by e-mail sophie@blind.co.uk .  you can visit our website at www.blind.org.uk
